The impressive stretch of road winds through 11 hairpin turns along steep mountain sides. The sharp turns are either carved into the rock or built up of natural stone. Mr. Trollstigen

Trollstigen, also known as Trollstigveien , has been important for several hundred years for traffic between Valldal and Åndalsnes. In 1875, a small family came walking down the old Kløvstien to Sogge . There they settled down and bought their own farm. In 1936, Edmund Meyer's grandfather, Torvald Meyer, was present at the grand opening of the road over Trollstigen, together with the Norwegian king. - 76 years after my grandfather helped open the road, the Norwegian state gave me the keys to run Trollstigen Café and Gudbrandsjuvet Café, says Meyer, proud of the family's history.
